Screening of the Documentary Film “Banskalii”

For the third consecutive year, the Bulgarian National Film Archive has the honor and pleasure to present in Bansko a special program dedicated to films shot in the town. Once again, the local audience and guests will have the opportunity to experience unique archival footage connected to the history and spirit of Bansko.
In 2025, the audience will see the documentary “Banskalii” (1969, dir. Veselina Gerinska, 28 min.), which tells the story of both the near and distant past of the town and of the people of Bansko who preserved their national traditions. The cinematographer is Ivan Tsonev, with Krum Radonov as a consultant to the film crew.
The film will be introduced by Rosen Spasov, an expert at the Bulgarian National Film Archive. Before the screening, viewers will also watch a 10-minute newsreel from 1969, featuring noteworthy events from that year, including the visit of Todor Zhivkov to Blagoevgrad District and Bansko.
Anyone interested in the town’s history will be able to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a bygone era preserved through film. Both films have been digitized in 4K at the new digital center of the Bulgarian National Film Archive.
